Another great wait

I already told you about the release of the new n°1 interior catalogue but now it's the turn for another favourite of mine: the Habitat catalogue.

What I really like about this edition, is that they didn't just divide it up in living room, kitchen, bedroom etc., but showed 3 different styling ways.

The first one is domestic cool, much warmer and homelier than we're used from Habitat.

Then there's electric chic, where they go baroque again. This is for the posh crowd who wouldn't be caught dead in Ikea, and to be honest probably in Habitat neither.

The last one is most Habitat: on stage, which has more absurd styling. You would never want to live in this interior but still it's strangely beautiful.

But is it art?

This season, art is no longer just hanging in museums but on your clothes hangers too.

The art movement to be wearing this winter, seems to be pop art.

The best example being the Andy Warhol Collection for Pepe Jeans.

Although Warhol himself is no longer with us, I think he would definitely approve this conversion of his work to fashion. His work is all about using different media, mass production and breaking the rules of art.

But Warhol is not the only inspiration, when flicking through Glamour I saw a dress by Iceberg featuring comic book graphics. A clear tribute to Roy Lichtenstein's work.

I love how something as common as a comic book, can first became art, and that that art now becomes fashion. I love the whole evolution of media.

Collections: part 1

I'm a bit of a hoarder. I have a lot of collections, some big some small. To be honest I just like beautiful things.

In the 'collection' series I'll show you my collections and the similar, and inspiring, collections of other people.

And to start it off: ceramic vases!

Since I love vintage, it's no surprise that all these are second hand. You can find some lovely vintage ceramics, although they can be quite expensive if you buy them in stores. All my vases are from thrift stores or from flea markets. Actually the most expensive one was the red vase which cost me about 7 euro's.

One country best known for his cermics is Germany, for the vintage vases more precisely West Germany. The orange/brown vase and the light brown vase are fom Germany. I hope to find some more like this because the colours and textures on these are really beautiful done.

I found another West German collection at H is for home. Look at those colours!

The next collection from Spring Globe shows that just an accent of colour can work just as powerful.

Kitsch Chic

I just took this lovely and quick quiz at mydeco. You have to take a pick out of a variety of photos and then they identify your style.

My result was spot on! I'm proud to announce that I'm Kitsch Chic!

"You're a real magpie, always on the look-out for often retro-style things that will add happiness and personality to your home. You love to mix old and new to create an interior design cocktail that's easy, fun and whimsical."

That's me alright...

Taking it a bit further

After much comparing, googling and discussion, the boyfriend and I finally booked our holidays for September...

So today I decided to surf the web to look for some nice looking travel cases (I hate having the same black suitcase as everybody else) and stumbled upon these great chairs from Maybe Product!

I love when people take everyday objects and put them out of their context. These just made me smile...

It's here!

More issues circulating than the bible, the most important catalog of interior design is upon us!

Depending where you live, you can find the IKEA catalog 2009, in August or at the latest September in your mail box! Living in Belgium I have to be patient for another two weeks but I sneaked an online peak on the IKEA US site.
