Outdoor dining

Summer is here and I feel like a picnic this weekend.

When you take the scenic – read bumpy – routes by bike in search for the perfect picnic spot, you don't want to risk breaking your nicest china ware.

The perfect solution: melamine tableware. Their durable, light, dishwasher safe and they come in bright colours and funky patterns. What more could you want...

• Melamine Rainbow Plate - V&A Shop

• Middletons plate set – Poketo

• Acapulco dinner plate – Jonathan Adler

I heart...

... this gigantic mural.

I wonder how you keep track of what you're drawing when you work on a format as big as this

Etsy Favs: JennSki

I admit, I'm a retro chick. That's why I instantly fell in love with JennSki's giclee prints.

I love her basic, almost naive, illustration style and how it stands out from the rest thanks to her use of delicate details and patterns.

And she always get the colours exactly right...

Yellow fever

Today was bright and sunny so I felt like a 'yellow' post.

The properties dreams are made on

Who of us doesn't dream of winning the lottery? When I do, my daydreams always involve buying some amazing apartment/house. To indulge my fantasies I often pay a visit to the site of Engel & Völkers who specialize in luxury real estate. Here are some of my latest dream properties.

n°1: Penthouse in Brussels
You can't get more luxurious then with an indoor swimming pool...

n°2: Loft in Gent
This reminds me of our current apartment but better, much better. And that terrace is to die for...

n°3: Duplex penthouse Brussels
Look at that light... Heavenly...

Aaargh!

Last week I came home, after a very long and tiring day of work, to find our whole apartment covered in dust...

It's already the second time that we get dust into our apartment from the renovation works next door, apparently the dividing wall is too thin... thank you very much landlord!

It's frustrating enough that you have to clean everything but it's even more frustrating if you have an open clothes rack so all your precious items of clothing are at their most vulnerable...

To brighten me up, here are some nice shots from clothes without dust..

Ring Ring

Sometimes I long to the pre cell phone time. That wonderful era where you could be out of reach for a whole day and didn't need to make any excuses.

Through Flickr

Today it seems you have to be reachable anytime, anywhere. Otherwise you have to deal with a variation of the following conversation 'No, I"m not ignoring you... I just didn't feel like talking... No you don't have to take that personal...'. Pff, you would almost long for simpler times...

Making it lovely

But then I receive a text from my boyfriend and it doesn't seem that bad afterall...

The flamingo on the cake

This Wednesday is my sister's birthday and I've promised to make her a cake for her party (This makes it sound like she's turning 4 instead of 24...)

Whilst looking for inspiration on the web, I landed on the website of 'De taart van mijn tante'. The site of this Amsterdam bakery doesn't offer any recipes, but boy oh boy, look at those cakes!

Mmm, I know where I'll be stopping by on my next visit to Amsterdam...

I heart: Lovely Lace

Lace fence by design studio Demakersvan combines the delicacy of lace with the industrial language of the chainlink fence.

Every fence has it's own unique theme.

Leave it to the Dutch to take functional everyday objects to a whole new level...

Pixel library

My books are arranged by colour, but now you can get much more creative with your personal library.

Just download this dust jacket template and create your own pixelated bookshelf.

Written in ink

I'm a secret admirer of tattoo show Miami Ink on Discovery Channel. But even tough I have a fascination with tattoos I've never a design interesting enough to have on my body for the – hopefully – next 80 years...

But then I saw this...

This typographic beauty was designed by Marian Bantjes for a befriended couple. It actually spells out the name of their daughter Maya.

I wouldn't mind looking at this whole day long...

Etsy Favs: Rabbitsmoon

It seems that my mother instinct is lurking, lately I seem to be more and more drawn to children's toys.

That's why I bookmarked Rabbitsmoon's shop. She sells lovely colourful handcrafted toys from her Brooklyn based studio. All items are one of a kind, so your toddler doesn't have to face embarrassment by showing up at the playground with the same cuddle as his friends.

Even if your life is still childfree, this Etsy store is worth a visit, there are some lovely pincushions for sale too.
