Off all the places

While flicking through TV channels this weekend, I came across a drama series on BBC. I can't recall the title – it was about some kidnapping scheme that went wrong – but was immediately transfixed with the set location. It took place in a modern house made up intirely of concrete and glass, no real surprises so far, but it was set next to an old cemetery!

At first I thought the graves might be added by the television makers to add some suspense but after some googling I found out that this building indeed borders a rather eery location. The house, designed by Eldrige Smerin Architects, is located in Swains Lane London on the edge of an historic Victorian cemetery.

Although the cemetery has almost a romantic feel during the day, I feel that at night, I would find the crooked tombs a tiny bit too scary...

I am sure all the spirits and ghosts are kindly but I could never never live next to graveyard. Amazing amazing house though - all that glass is great for the UK but hard to heat!

I'd like to say I wouldn't be scared, but one episode of Medium and I'd be moving out ASAP!

I agree - absolutely beautiful house and the site looks stunning in the daytime...but at night I wouldn't be able to sleep!

Looks great. Clearly, this building takes advantage of the green around it, and feature it with glass. It looks simply amazing.

I think we can all agree, looks beautiful but neither of us would be caught dead in it late at night, pardon the pun :)
