Whilst looking for inspiration on the web, I landed on the website of 'De taart van mijn tante'. The site of this Amsterdam bakery doesn't offer any recipes, but boy oh boy, look at those cakes!
Mmm, I know where I'll be stopping by on my next visit to Amsterdam...

ooh my sister lives in amsterdam so she'll love the 'amsterdammertjes'-cake!
I live relatively nearby, so off course HAD to try one when I first saw these cakes. Unfortunately, mine was stale and my mom's just came out of the fridge :(
Hope that wasn't representative for the rest of them...
It really would be a shame if they would just look nice but taste bad...
