By the book: Smilla's sense of snow

I know, It's hardly the right season to read Smilla's sense of snow but I was in the need of a good written thriller. And this novel did not dissapoint. The only disappointing thing was when I watched the trailer of the film adaptation afterwards. Talk about miscasting, none of the main characters felt right to me, the whole feel of the movie seemed awkward.

By the book: Sherlock Holmes

Currently residing on my bedstand is a 1400 page mammoth of a book containing the complete Sherlock Holmes stories. As a secret detective fan – Agatha Christie is my favourite guilty pleasure – my hopes were big for the detective of all detectives. But I must say that the plots sometimes are a bit, well, far sought. I mean a secret Eastern treasure as murder motive, that must surely be a decoy? Hmm no. Ah well, at least the art of deduction is more intriguing.

By the book: The Great Gatsby

Although I don't believe in new year's resolutions, I did happen to make a promise to myself which coincides with the beginning of 2011. I decided to read up on some of literature's classics. Being a big books fan, this will be an easy promise to keep, but just as a little extra encouragement I'm going to combine my literary efforts with some blogging. I'll use the books I'm reading, or to be more precisely, the interiors they feature, as an inspiration for a post.

First up is the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
