Design that makes me smile: RGB wallpaper
This must be one of the most awesome wallpapers I've ever seen. At first it looks just like a beautiful patterned mayhem of animals, but when you turn either a red, green or blue lamp on it you can see the different layers separately. How brilliant is that!

Josselin Zaïgouche has designed this clever light switch to make people think about their electricity consumption. This certainly will make you think twice before turning on the lights!

Design that makes me smile: Cloud umbrella
When the weather is grey and you almost get washed away by rain, there is not much that will bring a smile to your face. But this quirky cloud umbrella from Joon&Jung can bring a silver lining to the darkest rain cloud.

You almost wish for the heavens to open up, just so you could open up this little beauty.

They may be a tad cheesy, but this bakery inspired jewelery by Pauwels Spaenjers brought a smile to my face.

Design that makes me smile: Cross Stitch Pattern
If I could, I would fill my house with designer furniture. Unfortunately I lack the cash flow to make my dreams come true. But now there's a more affordable way of adding design to your home: the Modern Chair cross stitch pattern from Tiny Modernist.

Design that makes me smile: Jeeves & Wooster lamps
Sometimes I wish I was an English lady with a butler at my demand. Somebody to take care of my every fancy. Someone who doesn't mind getting out of bed to check if I locked the front door or not. The boyfriend grumbles a bit too much when he executes a request like this...
Unfortunately I was born in Belgium and probably a few decades to late to make this dream come true. But there's a way I can get a little bit of 'butler feeling' inside my house. Thanks to the Jeeves & Wooster lamps by Jack Phipps. They just scream English aristocracy!

Tea anyone?

Design that makes me smile: Stamp mugs
You know those annoying ringmarks you leave all over the place while drinking – not so neately – your daily cup of coffee? (My boss is really good at this, he likes making them on all my papers.)

Well, fear no more, thanks to the stamp mug they will be turned into little pieces of art. How cool is that!

Design that makes me smile: FUNkey stool
Like most people in this day and age, I spend most of my working life behind the computer. At the end of the day, I'm always thankful to get away from it all, and I try to avoid computers at home. (Doesn't really work if you have a blog...)

But now computers are invading our interior too! All thanks to these these great FUNkey stools from Mixco. After a rough day at work you can just come home, sit on the 'del' stool and forget all about it...

Design that makes me smile: Cardboard duvet
In these post I always show a design piece that isn't just beautiful but funny too. But the next item is also linked with a very serious subject.

This Cardboard duvet features a photo of a cardboard box. The idea is that you 'sleep under a cardboard box so a homeless young person doesn’t have to'.
Erik van Loo and Peggy van Neer, who started Le-Clochard, give most of the proceeds on the sale of the duvet to SZN, a foundation for homeless youngsters in the Netherlands. The income is used to fund housing projects which prioritise supporting young people in finding work or continuing their education.

At this time of the year, I sometimes have trouble getting warm indoors, I can't imagine what it must be like sleeping outdoors! This is a lovely way of giving to charity...

Design that makes me smile: Principessa
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who, like all other little girls, dreamed about her prince in shining armor. He would sweep her off her feet and take her to her dream castle, where they would live happily ever after.
Ah, but little girls grow up. I found prince charming – who lost a bit of his integrity by leaving his socks lying around - but the castle hasn’t materialized yet.

Fortunately for me, design duo Doshi Levien, have come up with a perfect way to relive my princess fantasies. Their day bed Principessa is based on the fairytale « The Princess and the Pea » and features several thin matrasses on top of each other (I wonder if there is an actual pea underneath). The illustrations on the bed show everything a princess needs for a night out. Handy, kind of like an IKEA manual for the aspiring princess.

Design that makes me smile
This edition in the series comes straight from Interieur 08.

I loved these lamps made by students from the Design Institute in Madrid. I actually have a few cones of yarn lying around and I'm definitely going to try and make something similar.
And to stay in the craft theme: a giant knit carpet. As a knitter, I just couldn't help but laugh when I saw this (and wonder which cable stitch it was.) I'm not quite sure who the designer is but after some research on the internet, I think it might be from Sebastien Schönheit.

Design that makes me smile: Trophy hangers
If you like your coat hangers to be a bit of fun (like the Eames Hang-It-All), then get ready for these Throphy Hangers by Phil Cuttance.
Ideal for when you have, like myself, a secret fascination with stuffed animal heads but you don’t want any animals to die for your viewing pleasure. Although there might been some toys harmed during the making of this design product.

Buy them on Charles and Marie
